How Successful Truckers Can Make More Money

Driving a rig is rewarding in many ways.

The thrill of the open road, not having a boss breathing down your neck, seeing different places and people each day, but at the end of the day most truckers truck for one primary reason.

To make as much money as they can.

As with anything, the more time and experience rig drivers spend behind the wheel the more tricks (and hacks) they learn when it comes to keeping more money in their pockets at the end of the day.

And while there are many things that experienced drivers do to maximize their income, one thing that stands out is that successful truckers see preventative maintenance as an investment, not an expense.

Inexperienced drivers view regular oil changes, alignments, inspections and sometimes even things such as replacing worn parts as expenses. But as any trucker eventually learns (usually after a few breakdowns that could have been avoided with proper maintenance), proper and prompt ongoing maintenance and worn part replacement is an investment that quickly saves them money, and not a cost.

In fact, in our opinion, regular vehicle maintenance is among one of the highest ROI (Return On Investment) things a trucker can do to save money in the long term.

But perhaps even better… beyond have more “up-time” and lower overall repair costs, well maintained trucks not only typically last longer, they are usually worth more at resale time.

There is also an additional benefit to regular and consistent maintenance appointments that many rig drivers (fleets and company owners as well) are unaware of.

Due to ongoing improvements in diagnostic and trouble shooting, we are potentially able to identify minor issues that exist in your heavy truck before they become big issues. Technology has advanced to the point that we can almost identify issues before they even happen in ways that we could never have imagined possible even a few years ago.

So if you want to save money trucking, have regular and consistent rig maintenance appointments, and fix/ replace worn components as soon as you notice they are not up to par.
